The Key to Happiness = Giving

The Key to Happiness = Giving

It's been a minute since I've written...I've been having a 'perfectionist' writing block, but as the wise Donna Orender says, "Perfection is the opposite of GO" So, this is raw, unedited, from the heart...and no help from chatGPT....I just had an experience today that I felt I had to share.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you felt that god was speaking to you?

I had a red eye flight and was on the shuttle bus to pick up a rental car, and my gut was telling me to give the shuttle driver a $100 dollar tip. If you've ever worked in the service industry, you know you get good tips and bad tips, but you never forget the extraordinary tips.

My mind was fighting against it..."But, $100 bucks??That's crazy - I can't afford that. I should use that to pay for employees...pay for a wedding...I don't have that money..." And my favorite excuse..."it will be too hard to grab cash out of my bag." ????♀?

But, deep in my soul, I knew that the shuttle driver needed it... Giving him $100 wasn't taking that away from me. In fact, quite the contrary. I realized that giving without expectation is the key to happiness and pays dividends in the long term...(What wise people also call karma)??

When I gave him the $100 dollars, he said, "Wow, this is God's work." I got goosebumps and said, "I agree! Have a great day."

I was listening to a Marie Forlio Podcast on the scarcity mindset myth, and heard a great quote, "Ordinary people with commitment can make an extraordinary impact on the world." Since starting LEGS full-time, I've been a victim of my mind at times, thinking...can we make this work? I don't have X experience...I'm not good enough (you know the drill)...

But, another favorite human, Janna Macik said, "Dream boldly because you're not just dreaming for you, you're dreaming for all of us."

I do believe when the commitment to a mission is strong enough, anything can happen. Ordinary people can be extraordinary through commitment to their dream.

So, moral of the story is very simple. The more you give, the more happiness you experience and abundance becomes abundantly clear.

Here is a great article on 39 qualities that make ordinary people extraordinary: https://hackspirit.com/qualities-ordinary-people-extraordinary/

Go make the world great - whatever world that is...big or small.

Much Love,

Jillian

Thank you for sharing your heart, your dreams, and your raw experiences. I can resonate with this kind of battle - so many times we are tricked into thinking that we are not enough and we do not have enough. But when we take bold actions by faith, following inner guidance, just like you did, we consciously shift our perspective that we are indeed abundant beings and are so rich in all kinds of resources. It is God’s work in us. Cheers to your bold dreams for all of us, Jillian Foss, MPH, AIF? ??

Beautifully said, we all have a special talent, and no, it does not mean we have to change the world, but it changes our world when we live towards our goal and our purpose
