The Key to Finding You
I've been thinking a lot lately (and you can't blame me!). As a graduate fresh out of college, there's so much to grasp at once and I'm left with questions. What do people do when they leave college? Explore the world? Begin a new life in a different location? Take a career break? The uncertainty is real and I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I am not alone.
To be honest, all I've felt in the last two months is exhaustion. The rigorous, monotonous college of medicine schedule kept me in survival mode for years, and now that I'm out, I'm trying to find myself and "my purpose." It's a journey, right? I'm learning to be patient and kind to myself as I navigate this uncharted territory.
A friend shared an article with me that gave me some much-needed perspective. Stephen Friedman 's piece in Harvard Business Review made me realize that having a predetermined purpose might be overrated after all. Maybe I don't need to have it all figured out just yet. At 21, I'm still discovering what I enjoy and what I'm good at. Maybe I can start from where I am and explore my interests.
If you're like me, wondering what's next, I hope you find comfort knowing you're not alone and maybe, just maybe you will find out that you are where you need to be. You've probably read this from me a lot, but we're all on a journey and it's one step at a time. Gradually, piece by piece, you find you.
