The Key Extrusion Processes Behind Colored TPU PPF Production

The evolution of the car industry has consequently opened more ways towards new, novelty solutions that concern paint protection. Among the most interesting novelties, a lovely combination of aesthetic appeal with functional protection is colored TPU PPF. While traditional, clear PPF has served people quite well up until now, in recent times, more consumers and enthusiasts have been looking for a stylish alternative that protects them with style.

Well then, how are such colorful and long-lasting films manufactured? Let's enter the different extrusion methods at work in colored TPU PPF manufacturing.

1. Single-Layer Extrusion

Single-layer extrusion consists of the melting of TPU resin, forcing it through a die to obtain a continuous sheet. Color pigments are added directly to the resin before extrusion to make sure that the film will have a uniform color. This method of manufacture is much simpler and faster, hence more economical, but it is also generally without any protection features associated with multi-layer films, such as scratch resistance and UV protection.

2. Co-Extrusion

Co-extrusion is the more complicated process of extruding two or more layers of TPU together. For colored PPF, there is a pigmented layer of TPU that is combined with a clear topcoat for the colored film to remain brilliant by continuing the protection with a clear layer against scratch and UV for general wear. Co-extrusion is preferred mainly because of its functionality to improve the appearance and strength of the film.

3. Cast Extrusion

The other commonly used process is cast extrusion, where TPU resin is melted and then cast through a flat die. This produces thin and uniform sheets used for high-quality colored PPF products. The process yields good control over thickness and surface texture, hence assuring a smooth and even finish. Among these, cast extrusion is mainly used in the manufacture of quality film with consistent color and high transparency.

Why Choose Colored TPU PPF?

Colored TPU PPF has numerous advantages when compared with traditional clear films:

Aesthetic Customization: Now, car owners can also colorfully protect their vehicles in a way that makes them stand out.

Durability: Through advanced coextrusion and lamination techniques, colored PPF is just as effective as clear films in protection. Versatility: It also comes in shades and finishes from matte to gloss, colored PPF opens the portal to a world of design possibilities.

Looking Ahead Extrusion and lamination are critical to produce high-quality colored PPF.

As technology continues to advance in the protection industry, new finishes will be invented with improved features of protection, which will answer the higher demands for customized automotive aesthetics. At Leonardo TPU PPF, we’re committed to staying at the forefront of these innovations, ensuring that our customers get the very best in both performance and design.
