Change your environment instead, according to research from social psychologist Wendy Wood. Even for those of us who have impressive self-control, the best way to avoid unwanted habits is to simply make it really annoying to fulfill them. When to trust your gut: Relying on your instinct gets a bad rap, but there are times when it is useful, even advisable, writes Harvard Business School’s Laura Huang. During high stakes situations where there simply isn’t enough information to make a reliable prediction, going with your gut — the kind you have gained from experience — can push you off the fence in time to benefit from whatever decision you make. Applying for a doctoral program is a very different process than applying for other levels of higher education because the programs accept usually only a few students a year. Women managers face feedback battle: Both male and female employees are more likely to respond negatively to critical professional feedback when the feedback giver is a woman, according to Middlebury College’s Martin Abel. After studying 2,700 online transcription workers, Abel found that employees of both genders were more likely to come away dissatisfied and less likely to accept future assignments after receiving critical feedback from a female boss. This reaction may be due to ingrained expectations about how different genders act as managers. Simply being aware of this bias may help matters. And Abel found that these differing expectations are less prevalent among younger workers. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Is any particular birth sign more prone to mind doubtfulness or a certain Chinese sign Biblical times doubting Thomas Judas the scarriot Peeping Tom Does that become imbedded is a psyche effect the daily lives of current citizens of the world If something can go wrong it will go wrong Expect the unexpected Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I’m sure there are many positive affirmations too It seems the mind conjures up the doubtful more so than the go get em positive ????♂?

You cannot! Simple? Focus on what you have add up the pros and cons and decide just how important it is. Many will congratulate you. Many gurus will say you can do anything, some will actually suggest if you fail then you are not committed enough. They are wrong and I speak from experience. After trying to complete a PhD for a number of years I had to back off. Professional work loads family stress where I found I had little time for the important people in my life and general mess ups by academics in the course made my decision inevitable. Now retired after 40 years in my profession I have time but there are other things now on my horizon. In the end all may be left with is people calling you Dr so and do . So what. Be a peaceful warrior don't be afraid of going with your gut feelings and make your own choice.

I have a doctorate in neuroscience, and one of the most common questions I get asked is, "Should I do a PhD?"? One of the most important questions to get clarity on is why you are considering a PhD.? It is a considerable investment in time, energy, and resources, so it's a good idea to be sure this investment is initiated with a clear goal in mind.? Once you know exactly what your career goals are, perhaps you don't need to pursue a PhD to achieve them.?
