Kevin reveals the profound impact of small acts of kindness
No grand gestures. No ambitious goals. Yet, the impact that Kevin has delivered as a volunteer with Youth Corps Singapore is no less significant.?
Kevin is a dedicated volunteer for KidsCount, a numeracy literacy programme for children, as well as Neighbour Cares, an initiative to engage with seniors who live in isolation. He has found immense fulfilment in his voluntary work. “I love seeing the pride on the children’s face when they solve a challenging math problem. It also warms my heart to see the elderly light up with happiness during our visits. It is these precious moments that make volunteering truly meaningful for me.”?
Kevin shared that his volunteering journey was inspired by an encounter with a visually-impaired lady, who despite her disability, did her best to help others around her. This moment made Kevin appreciate how the little things matter.?
He shared, “There are people in the community who need help, and volunteering is not always about doing the big things. Lending a listening ear, checking in on someone’s well-being or just spending time to chat with the beneficiaries can bring great comfort to them. By recognising that it may not take a lot to make a difference, I hope more people will step forward to volunteer and uplift the less privileged.”
Kevin’s own compassionate nature shines through in his interactions with beneficiaries and fellow volunteers alike. His teammates described how he is always looking out for them, and often takes on laborious tasks to lighten the load of others.
Small acts of kindness can mean the world to others. Join Kevin and the Youth Corps Leaders team in their mission to create a world where even the tiniest deeds have a remarkable impact.
