March 15, 2024 -- Kevin Chase Executive Search Group , in partnership with Roey Thorpe and Strategic Solutions for Social Justice, is proud to announce the launch of its search for the new Executive Director of Equality Ohio (EO), the largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in the state of Ohio.

EO is a vital player in the national, state-based Equality Movement as Ohio (among too many states) endures an uptick in anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-equality legislation at the state and municipal level.

For nearly two decades, EO has been advocating on behalf of LGBTQ+ Ohioans with state and local governments on issues that matter most: LGBTQ+ inclusive public accommodations and non-discrimination laws, parental and family rights, anti-bullying protections, ending the criminalization of HIV/AIDS, and equitable access to health care (including abortion and gender affirming care), among others.

This position represents a unique and purposeful opportunity to join the front lines of defending democracy, advancing social & racial justice, and ensuring full lived and legal equality for all LGBTQ+ Ohioans.

"Equality Ohio is an exciting time of transition and opportunity for a new leader. It has experienced dynamic growth in recent years, nearly tripling in size since the out-going E.D. assumed leadership nearly a decade ago," said Kevin Chase Executive Search Group Managing Director Kevin Chase. "This includes the establishment of a free legal clinic committed specifically to providing low-income LGBTQ+ Ohioans with free legal services and support. It's an invaluable service and the only clinic of its kind in the state."

Following the departure last December of a long-serving Executive Director, EO is currently being led by a talented and experienced Interim E.D. who will remain with the org throughout the completion of the search and leadership transition.

Successful candidates for this critical leadership role should have:

  • An established leadership track record, preferably including experience in a related nonprofit movement/organization
  • Professional background in policy, advocacy, organizing, law/legal services, and/or campaigns/elections
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability (and interest) to expand fundraising efforts and results
  • Excellent management and team building skills
  • Personal and professional commitment to advancing social & racial justice
  • Strong diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) lens
  • Resilience, temerity, and audacity to face energized opposition

Equality Ohio is offering a comprehensive compensation package including a starting base salary in the range of $135,000 to $155,000 and generous benefits for this position.
