Nov. 11, 2022 -- For nearly 50 years now,?The Los Angeles Center for Law & Justice (LACLJ) has provided free legal services and wrap-around social programs to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Los Angeles County. LACLJ is unique among nonprofit legal organizations in that its community advocacy and support services are integrated directly into its core legal services - primarily family and immigration law. It is also unique in its focus on survivors and its commitment to serving clients in a holistic, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative way.?Since its founding, LACLJ has been a powerful and effective advocate for its clients, the majority of whom are from low-income, immigrant, and/or Latinx communities.?

"The folks LACLJ serves have urgent legal needs, but they also face a host of other challenges, including navigating complex court systems and social services networks. LACLJ directly represents individuals in courts and legal proceedings, but they also work one-on-one with their clients to help get them connected to other means of support and assistance," said Kevin Chase, Managing Partner of Kevin Chase Executive Search. "LACLJ is also an active advocate on criminal and civil justice issues -- housing, education, and employment, for example -- and a respected voice on family law in the appellate court system."

The new Executive Director will lead a passionate and mission-driven team of 40 professionals (inclusive of a 25-person legal team) and an annual operating budget of over $4 million. In addition to previous nonprofit leadership experience, successful candidates for this position should have a keen personal commitment to social justice and demonstrated passion for advocating on behalf of marginalized individuals and communities like those LACLJ serves.

Other desired professional competencies include a senior management track record with some executive (CEO, Executive Director, Deputy Director, or similar) leadership, a history of organizational growth and improvement, proven success in fundraising and revenue development, excellent people and team management skills, financial oversight and budget management experience (in an organization of similar or larger size and complexity), and the ability to engage a broad coalition of stakeholders as an authentic voice of the organization and the people it serves.
