Keto in a nutshell.

If you aren’t familiar, keto is a very low carb and high fat diet. In fact if done correctly you should consume no more than 30gs of carbs a day! In the absence of glucose from carbohydrates, your body must make its own energy source.?

After a few days, your liver starts producing ketone bodies to act as a fuel source. During the transition period, you can feel like garbage! Headaches, flu like symptoms and low energy. This potential due to the micronutrient deficiencies, caused by cutting out carbs..

Keto works in the same way as any other diet…CALORIE DEFICIT. All though you might be thinking “ Well fats have more calories per gram, so how does that work?” True, fats have 9kcals per gram Vs carbs that only have 4kcal. But what you need to remember is that fats and protein are highly satiating, meaning they fill you up for longer. So you end up eating less calories, because you are fuller .

So is keto the best diet for you.

Yes!...and NO!

Like I said above, there is no magic diet. The only thing you need to worry about is being in a calorie deficit. This can be achieved by ANY DIET protocol.?

The best diet is the one you can be more consistent with and helps fuel your workouts. I have seen it so many times that when people stop keto and eat carbs again they put on a lot of weight.

So stop looking for the short cut. It will take time for you to get back into shape, just the same as you didn't put weight on overnight.

Dig in and be prepared for a long fight.

If you would like a hand in finding the right diet and training plan, that is built around your lifestyle, reach out and send me a message. Let’s see what it would look like to work together.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Currently on day 5 of the 16/8 IF to change it up. First few days I had nothing in the gym to offer. But last two days I've changed the diet around to fit in more protien at 1300 and 1700 before the gym. Is far way removed from my normal 5 meals a day routine but good to keep changing things up. Only time will tell as will run it for 30 days. Office is basically Holland and barret. Also changed my routine from cardio every other day for an hour to 30 min cardio at the end of each weight session.
