The Gele (heads wrap) is modern accessory for women to wear when they wish to dress up an outfit or celebrate an occasion, it’s a cultural symbol of their statement in life. Ordinary women generally wore simple Gele ,young ,unmarried girls often are bareheaded but married women wore it, also it signifies the community status .Click here for more details.
The Nigerians, are well known to be a little bit over the top, and trust me that is putting it very moderately. When it comes to style, fashion and tradition, they seem to go an extra mile to make a statement. Bottom line, you can’t attend a Nigerian wedding and leave the same way. During their weddings, they rarely do white dress or tuxedo suits. Mostly they wear the traditional Nigerian attire for the reception. The bride only wears traditional attire, either from her tribe, her new husband`s tribe or sometimes both, for example, this outfit if from both Ibo and Yoruba tribe but the Gele is most commonly used by the Yoruba community. I stand to be corrected. Get to know the Nigerians are avid lovers of color, the makeup and accessories with the traditional attire would most likely be far from subtle, especially when the outfit is a very rich color.
