SNV Kenya implementing the
IYBA-SEED Project
project supported by
Viffa Consult
held a 2 day? policy toolkit training workshop on 17th and 18th October at
EldoHub
in Uasin Gishu County.
The policy training workshop? was attended by over 50 ESOs and BMOs drawn from Uasin Gishu county and its environs.
Similar to Kisumu, the session took participants through? advocacy cycles .
Key takeaways from the session were:?
- The need to ensure significant value remains in the ecosystem and here we say a big thank you to SNV Kenya led by Dr
David Ojwang, PhD
,
Nduta Ndirangu, MBA, PRINCE2?,
and the whole team for allowing the two day session to be hosted at EldoHub a key ecosystem player in the county and region. This is significant in terms of program design as it allows the hub to be sustainable through alternative revenue streams, reinforcing its community building capabilities, brand positioning and credibility among others. The ripple effect in terms of economic support to the wider community can never be understated.
- There is need for coordination of national MSME agencies in min of MSMEs and industry at the counties working with both county government and ESO-BMO-Development partners at the county level
- There is a need for the establishment of an annual? msme baseline survey on challenges across sectors to inform interventions across board for public, private sector and CSOs. This can be in the form of a county abstract as well. This will enable all stakeholders to align and avoid duplication of roles and resources.
- There is need for develop a code of conduct or standard across various interventions be it capacity building or any other to ensure that MSMEs get value and reduce ‘’capacity building fatigue’’
- There is need for development of? M&E on all stakeholder programs within the county and see who is doing what and if they are making any progress?
On behalf of the
SNV
Kenya and IYBA SEED partners, I wish to thank all 50 plus participants and the county government of Uasin for a great time and fruitful deliberations. Looking forward to forward looking action.?
Thank you City of Champions?
