Ken Seiler Honored for 24 Years of Service

Ken Seiler , who is retiring April 1 as Sr. Vice President for Planning, was honored for 24 years of service at the March 20 meeting of the Markets & Reliability Committee.

“You’re leaving this organization better than you found it – you made it a better place,” said Stu Bresler , Executive Vice President, Market Services and Strategy.

Bresler was joined by Sharon Midgley , Chair of the PJM Members Committee and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Exelon, who praised Seiler for always remaining focused on PJM’s core mission.

Lisa Drauschak , Sr. Vice President, CFO and Treasurer, said Seiler would be remembered by her and others as a mentor and friend. Paul McGlynn, who was named Vice President of Planning in November to succeed Seiler, said Seiler’s work on interconnection process reform and other areas has set the Planning Division up for success.

“I’m the beneficiary of all Ken’s good work,” McGlynn said.

Over his career, Seiler has overseen major advances for both Operations and Planning at PJM.

He most recently led the development and implementation of PJM’s landmark interconnection process reform, while his team was also doing pioneering work on offshore wind, long-term scenario-based planning and heightened transparency throughout the Planning Department.

Seiler assumed the role of Vice President – Planning in 2019 and rose to Sr. Vice President in 2023.

In that post, Seiler has been responsible for all activities related to resource adequacy, generation interconnection, interregional planning and transmission planning, including the development of the Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.

Previously, he was executive director of System Operations, where he oversaw the reliable operation and coordination of the bulk power system, including PJM’s real-time dispatch operations and near-term reliability studies.

Seiler is on the board of directors of ReliabilityFirst, one of eight Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-designated regional entities responsible for ensuring the reliability of the North American bulk power system. He also is on the board of PJM Environmental Information Services Inc.

A devoted fly fisherman, Seiler volunteers as an instructor for the Mayfly Project, a national organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care and introduce them to their local water ecosystems.

Prior to joining PJM, Seiler was employed by Metropolitan Edison Company/GPU Energy for nearly 14 years. He held the positions of operations manager, transmission engineering manager, relay protection and control engineer, and substation/transmission construction and maintenance engineer.

Seiler earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from Lebanon Valley College.

He will remain at PJM through December 2024 in an executive consulting role during the transition of his duties.
