This was a few years back now.

Seemingly happy and "normal" to those around me but shutting down when alone.

Pretending everything is fine on the outside but panicking internally and not knowing what the fuck is going on in my life.

Often just sitting or lying still for hours without thought until it was time to see friends and put the mask on again!

Thinking "Well I'm not as bad as so and so, I'm not bipolar so surely I don't deserve any help!"

DEPRESSION & ANXIETY DOESN'T HAVE A FACE!


Despite asking for help, I still didn't tell anybody all the time I was in counselling.

Not even my Mum who is a counsellor!

The stigma is fading but it's definitely not gone, especially amongst men.

Still, I was lucky to be in a place I felt asking for help was an option.

I have both friends and family who didn't, and they took their own lives.


I tell you this because from my experiences when I open up and speak...others open up to me.

So I'm opening up in the hope that somebody else will.


Please do one of two things today.

1. Check in on somebody and ask them how they are actually doing.

2. If you're struggling, please ask for help! It gets better I promise!

My message box is always open and I'm always up for a cuppa and chat. x

P.S. When I was starting to feel better I created a plan for myself to do everything I possibly could to help me.
