Keeping Your Team Happy

Most leaders think that getting to the top of the leadership chain is the ultimate achievement for their careers. But getting your team to achieve great things collaboratively as one unit – and not competitively amongst each other – is the biggest achievement. 

A happy, cohesive team that is united towards the company’s goals and vision should be the leader’s ultimate goal, and to achieve this a leader has to:

Offer Compliments and Recognition

When an employee does something above and beyond what’s expected, tell them. Appreciate them and genuinely show them that you are impressed and have gained more respect for them. Never make people feel small or unappreciated. It’s easy to point out mistakes and correct others but this should be done with genuine constructive feedback. But also, take the time to acknowledge the good initiatives, great work and the extra mile others take.

Invest in Team Management Education

As a leader, you have to invest time and resources to improve your team’s skills, on a personal and professional level. Share your own knowledge about the projects at hand and educate where possible. Reach out to your team to motivate them, and collaboratively accelerate the learning process while sharing knowledge.
