KEEPING YOUR HAND IN
I know I have mentioned Pen To Print/ Write On here on LinkedIn before. I was invited to join the team a year or so ago having sent a couple of random articles in, after discovering a copy of Write On in my local library. This on-line and print Writing Magazine continues to grow in popularity and it has also continued to allow me to keep my hand in where my beloved writing is concerned. Aside from that however, it has also taught me a lot about editing, and working as part of a team (even remotely) which I had never done before, not in the Creative Writing sense anyway.
I said at the beginning of 2025 that I wanted to start earning a bit of pin money from my writing. I have been paid before for my work - sometimes quite generously - and back in the late 80s, I was even able to give up my job for a year because I was earning quite regularly. But since then, paying opportunities have been quite few and far between and, now that I am retired, I'd like to start getting paid again for doing the thing I love most - writing.
Alas alack, here we are almost at the end of February and the search continues. Yet I have been really busy, all thanks to Pen To Print/Write On. I am compiling four showcase pages for March (which means the editing muscle gets some a work out) and I have already had a number of pieces accepted by them for publication this year (which keeps the writing muscle in shape), so it is Win Win.
Okay so I am not getting paid, but you know what? It doesn't matter. I am back in the world I was born to be in. This is my happy place. Everyone here speaks my language. And I am loving every second of it!
