Keeping up to date with changes in legislation is critical when dealing with estate planning clients and their financial affairs. Our Webinars are designed to not only keep you abreast of what you can offer to your clients to achieve their estate planning aims, but to also keep you informed of anything you need to be aware of.
Superman Webinar 68 will ensure that you are up to speed on the following:
· Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Trusts
What are the rules and opportunities now?
· Capital Gains Tax (CGT):
Declarations of Trust: How not to cost your client’s up to 50% of their main residence relief…
Lettings Relief: What’s changed?
Main Residence relief:
New restriction: What does it mean for your clients?
· Trust Registration
What’s coming and what you need to know.
The Webinar will cover the basic SDLT rules and how they are applied to both estates and trusts, in particular, what steps can be taken to manage the “additional” 3% that can be levied on trustees. It is also important as a practitioner to understand the opportunities that exist with regard to the current SDLT “holiday” for purchases/transactions relating to a main residence up to the value of £500,000.
CGT has also had some minor but important tweaks for the 2020/2021 tax year which can limit, and in some circumstances remove the application of main residence relief on transfer of a client’s property. We will explore when this is the case, describe how the Legacy software has been updated to reflect this, so that both you and the clients, are aware of the new CGT “trip wire” that is so easy to fall foul of. This webinar will ensure that you and your clients don’t!
We will also update you in relation to the Trust Registration requirements that are up and coming and what they mean for you as practitioners and to Countrywide Tax and Trust Corporation Ltd as trustees.
