Keeping Your Event Fresh!

Keeping Your Event Fresh!

Working in the sports industry for the last 6+ years, I have found that companies and groups like to change up their event from year to year or every couple of years. This keeps their event “fresh” and keeps their guests, whether it is clients, employees, vendors, volunteers, etc. engaged. I completely understand why they like to do this and see the benefit of it. A popular choice for “keeping their event fresh” is to change locations to another summer event venue or maybe even an on-site company picnic.

However, there are other options available at your own venue that your clients can utilize to keep their event fresh. I was reminded of this last Sunday while going out to breakfast with my family. Our family loves to try out different breakfast establishments and it is a weekend tradition. For the last several years, Best Bet in Noblesville has been in the regular rotation. There are many positives of Best Bet. It is a family-friendly atmosphere, owners and staff treat you like family, know what you like to order, know your names, etc. My daughter especially likes to go to Best Bet as the waitstaff know her name and give her poker chips after every meal (sometimes two).

On this particular Sunday, I was ready to switch things up and go to another breakfast establishment – “to keep things fresh”. My daughter, however, had a different idea. She wanted to go to “Best Beth’s”. That’s her term for Best Bet as her favorite waitress is Beth. If there’s something I’ve learned in 3 years of being a parent, it is to pick your battles. We went to Best Bet.

I typically get the same thing when we go there each week. Most likely the reason why I wanted to switch things up. I decided to try a different menu item. It was fantastic! It kept the experience fresh.

I’ve found there are a lot of similarities between choosing between restaurants and event venues to keep it fresh.

I completely understand wanting to change things up to keep your employees engaged and the event fresh, but if everyone had a great time and you received exceptional customer service why change?

As a restaurant has many menu options available, sporting venues also have many options available for a unique experience if you are looking to switch up or change your event. For example, if your group has traditionally came out as a group and done stadium seating in the past, have you thought about adding a food and drink voucher or pre-game picnic to your event to keep your event fresh? If you have done the pre-game picnic event and are looking for a more exclusive atmosphere, did you know that sporting venues rent out their venue for exclusive events and your group could have the venue all to themselves?

There are many options to “switch things up” and “keep your event fresh” and not have to change your venue.

Very good points Garrett! Whether a different seating, food and beverage, or merchandise option, our game day event can seem totally new. Working with your rep to create a new experience can be so very valuable to your group members.
