Keeping them Busy

Keeping them Busy

Good morning and how are you doing today?

In a couple of days, children will go on vacation. For many parents, how to keep them occupied is a priority. While we want them to rest from the rigours of school, we also want to keep them to be productively engaged.

There are different tasks that they can channel their energies to in order to keep them actively occupied. They can take part in sporting activities, holiday coaching, arts and crafts, learn a new language and so on.

They can also take that time to learn about money—a subject that is not quite taught in detail and at a young age. In many schools, children learn about the history of the various currencies and early forms of money. However, they do not learn about the day-to-day uses of money, good money habits and the like within the four walls of a school.

For a few of us, this has, in some ways, contributed to the money issues we deal with today. The first real experience we have with money is often during secondary school or university. Then, we have the buffer of family and friends to rely on when we hit a tight spot. Then comes the real world, a season that appears like having a bucket of water being poured on us.

Habits, as we all know, take time and consistency to change and develop. Sometimes it takes a long time because human beings are naturally averse to change. That’s why it is best to learn great habits when one is young.

The MoneyAfrica boot camp for children will run from March 29 through April 17, 2021, for children who are within the ages of 7 and 18 years old.
