Keeping Hydrated for Exercise

Keeping Hydrated for Exercise

Tennis, cycling, cricket, F1 racing; this certainly is the month for a wealth of sport to enjoy watching but also doing! Whether you are donning your bat, racket, bike, or visiting the gym more often, it is very important to ensure you stay hydrated while working out.

Keeping hydrated is vital when working out. If you are not drinking enough water, your nutrition plan and fitness program will, without question, be much less effective in transforming your body than if you were drinking enough.

In the diet, water is a very important component and can have great benefits for your body.

Water is not only a natural appetite suppressant, but it actually helps the body metabolise stored fat. When the body does not have a good supply of water to draw from to perform required physiological tasks, it will draw water from inside the bodies cells, including fat cells, in order to perform the desired tasks. Any fat stores in the body that are drawn on for water, are less likely to be mobilised and burned off as energy, resulting in increased fat stores over time if you were to remain in a constantly dehydrated state. Water is the key to ridding the body of fat through increased metabolic function.

Water maintains proper muscle tone by giving muscles their ability to contract. Water delivers oxygen to the muscles and helps the body perform more efficiently.

Water, along with the essential fats and minerals, prevents sagging skin and returns health and resiliency. Age and genetics will happen of course, but you can help combat these two, delaying the onset with a healthy lifestyle.

Water is an instant energy pick-me-up. Dehydration leads to fatigue because it impacts the flow of oxygen to the brain and causes your heart to work harder to pump oxygen to all of your bodily organs.

Here are some top tips for staying hydrated while exercising.

 -      Treat yourself to a nice water bottle to encourage you not to lose it

-      Keep your water bottle by your side at all times

-      Add a slice of lemon and some mint to add flavor if you prefer

-      Put reminders on your phone when to drink

-      Keep your water bottle topped up ready at all times!

If anyone is looking to set up their own gym or fitness event, we would highly recommend you to invest in a water cooler or fountain for your clients and participants. We cannot imagine being without one as they get used so regularly in most facilities.

We firmly believe that frequent exercise can help improve overall wellbeing in the workplace as well in your personal life. In today’s economic market every company needs to capitalise on staff productivity. If you have a team that is unhealthy and unhappy, motivating your employees can seem like a daunting task and it is costing the business valuable time, money, and resources. Employees that are healthy and happy become increasingly more valuable with decreased absenteeism, higher productivity, and good morale.
