Keeping God a Priority in a Busy Season
Scripture: Matthew 6:33 (NIV) – "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
The past few weeks have been incredibly busy. I find myself juggling work, responsibilities, and commitments, and, honestly, it’s exhausting. Between long hours at work and the pressure of meeting deadlines, I often feel like there's little time left for anything else—let alone my relationship with God. The hardest part is, I know deep down that I should be prioritizing my time with Him, yet it seems like every week something else takes precedence. And then I wonder, “How do I find balance? How do I make space for God in the middle of all this chaos?” I’ll admit, I’ve skipped a few weeks of cell group, and I feel that pull inside me—the pull between what I want to do for my faith and what my life demands right now.
Devotional:
Here’s the reality I’ve been coming to terms with: the busyness isn’t going away anytime soon. We all face seasons where work, family, and other demands pull at us in every direction. But in these moments, I hear the words of Jesus from Matthew 6:33, calling me to “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I’m not going to lie, there are times when I wonder if I’m failing at this. How do I prioritize seeking God when everything else seems so urgent? How do I keep God at the center of my life when everything else is clamoring for attention?
The thing is, I know in my heart that God doesn’t need me to have it all together. He doesn’t expect perfection. I can’t help but remember that God’s love for me isn’t based on what I do but on who He is. The truth is, even though I might skip a few weeks or feel distracted, God is still here, and He still wants me to come to Him—no matter how messy or distracted my life feels right now.
I think about how, in the middle of all the chaos, God is still calling me to Him. Even when I can’t find time to read Scripture or attend cell group, He’s right there, waiting. I’m realizing that it’s not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about taking small, intentional steps to connect with Him, even if it’s just a few minutes of quiet reflection in the morning or a prayer before starting work. Sometimes, it’s just about saying, "God, I’m here. I need Your strength today."
The more I reflect on it, the more I realize that I don’t need to have everything figured out to still be prioritizing God. The small moments I offer to Him—the moments of surrender when I feel overwhelmed—are just as meaningful. And it’s in those moments, when I surrender my busyness and my doubts to Him, that He brings clarity and peace.
Closing Prayer:
God, I confess that I struggle with finding time for You, especially during busy seasons. There are days when I feel lost in the rush, and I feel like I’ve failed to prioritize You. Help me remember that You don’t need perfection from me. You only want me to seek You with a sincere heart. Give me the strength to find moments for You in my day, and help me trust that You are guiding me through this season. Thank You for Your patience, Your grace, and Your ever-present love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection:
As I look at my current season, I ask myself—how can I intentionally prioritize my relationship with God, even in the midst of busyness? What small adjustments can I make this week to carve out time for Him? Take a moment today to reflect on how you can make God a priority in your day, even in the most hectic of times.

3 小时前God looks at our heart - we all experience busy times, some more often than others :) Keeping perspective, and not letting ourselves feel overly guilty/bad for not being at the "standard" we set for ourselves is important... Then again, we also do need to be intentional so that we spend that time in communion with Him. Balance is the key.
