Well hey there, I’m here, you’re here, and we’re back with another Culture Junky LinkedIn Exclusive. I hope this week has been a great one for you and your team members as we make our way through this shortened week.
If you haven’t had a chance to read my weekly blog from Wednesday, check your email because there’s some great stuff in there that may be helpful for you as a leader as you and your team navigate the shortened week.
To quickly summarize in one sentence, it’s all about capitalizing on opportunities that may not immediately jump out at you.
Today, I want to build on that, because this summer, you have a rare opportunity as a leader to capitalize on something else, something that gives you the chance to implement a culture initiative that could make all the difference for you and your team members if you let it.
I’m talking about the Olympics this summer, and if you’re wondering, “What do the Olympics have to do with my organizational culture Corteen?” Then buckle up because I’m going to explain.
If you’ve been following my Culture Junky content for some time then you know that me and my team have turned the March Madness tournament concept into one of our annual culture strategies. Initially we built out a tournament that took place in March and coincided with the NCAA tournament, but after assessing the results and making some changes to get the most out of this idea, we settled on May Madness.
The engagement and results we’ve seen from this have been absolutely awesome, and it’s because of that, that I think this year’s summer Olympics give us as leaders a similar opportunity to create an engaging culture initiative for your team.
What that looks like, and how you format it is completely up to you, but to circle back around to my point from earlier in this blog, it all comes down to capitalizing on opportunities to create meaningful engagement for your team members.
Before you know it' you’ll start finding inspiration in places you’d never expect, with your culture reaping the rewards.
