Keeping Employees Engaged and Loyal

Keeping Employees Engaged and Loyal

I love how HBR keeps resurfacing old articles. Some of those really never do get old, but always remain relevant, and sometimes become more relevant.

I just went through “How to Lose Your Best Employees” by Whitney Johnson and found it so relevant to my experience and so important.

As someone focused on building super teams, I know that employees are the backbone of any organization. They are the ones who come up with new ideas, solve problems, and deliver results. However, it can be easy to take employees for granted. We know they are good at what they do, so we tend to give them the same tasks over and over again. This can be a mistake.

Employees need to be challenged. They need to be given new opportunities to grow and develop their skills. If we don't challenge them, they will eventually become bored and restless. They may even start to look for new opportunities elsewhere.

As a manager, it is my responsibility to ensure that my employees are engaged. I do this by providing them with new challenges, new opportunities, and new roles. I also make sure to give them regular feedback and praise. I want them to know that I value their contributions and that I am committed to their success.

If you are a manager, I encourage you to do the same. Challenge your employees, give them new opportunities, and let them know that you value them. It is an investment that will pay off in the long run.

Here are some specific tips for keeping employees engaged:

  • Set clear goals and expectations. Let your employees know what you expect of them and how they can achieve their goals.
  • Provide regular feedback. Let your employees know how they are doing and what they are doing well.
  • Give them opportunities to grow and develop. Encourage your employees to take on new challenges and learn new skills.
  • Recognize their accomplishments. Let your employees know when they are doing a good job.
  • Create a positive work environment. Make sure your employees feel valued and appreciated.

By following these tips, you can help keep your employees engaged and motivated. This will benefit both you and your organization.

The Importance of New Business Opportunities

In addition to the above, it is also important to provide employees with new business opportunities. This can help to keep them engaged and challenged, and it can also help to boost morale and productivity. There are a number of ways to do this, such as:

  • Encourage employees to come up with new ideas. Give them the freedom to experiment and try new things.
  • Give employees the opportunity to work on new projects. This could involve working on new products, services, or markets.
  • Send employees to training or development programs. This will help them to learn new skills and stay up-to-date on the latest trends.
  • Promote from within. This shows employees that they have the opportunity to grow and develop within the organization.

By providing employees with new business opportunities, you can help to create a more dynamic and exciting work environment. This will make them more likely to stay with your organization and contribute to its success.
