Keeping the Distance - Not only for Covid-19

Keeping distance to other persons is important during the actual Covid-19 situation. But not only here! When you are working with high voltages, it is important to have sufficient isolation distance. The Vishay OptoTRIAC portfolio offers a high isolation DIP-5 package where the middle pin on the output is been cutted away, so that the isolation distance between both terminal pins is increased.

Available parts in this package are the VOT8025A (zero crossing) and VOT8125A (non-zero crossing) with load voltages up to 800 V.

Both variants are available in SMD bending and as thru-hole. In addition, a wide lead bending (gullwing) version is available, offering extra isolation distance also between input and output.

A low trigger current of only 5 mA enables direct drive from a microcontroller, saving additional driver stages.

Finally, a very easy, economic, safe and reliable way to switch high voltage AC loads.
