KEEP YOUR STAFF ON BOARD - ERGONOMICS : STAND UP AND MOW -

From a mechanical point of view, humans are walking and standing creatures. Only in an upright posture are all the individual parts of the body able to absorb as many of the stresses that occur during activities as possible, so that they can have less of a damaging effect on the organism as a whole. Simplified, all limb joints can be thought of as spiral springs. In interaction with tendons, ligaments and muscles, they are thus capable of transmitting forces over a wide range of inclination, absorbing shock, rotational forces and vibrations horizontally and vertically and constantly bringing the whole body into the optimum position. The vertebrae in the back can only do this to a very limited extent. This is because they are relatively stiff and inflexible and designed mainly for vertical loads. If the person is in a sitting position, the foot and knee joints cannot be used for this function. In this position, the hip joints and sacrum have only limited possibilities for cushioning. As a result, acting vertical and horizontal forces hit the spine directly and are passed on to the cervical vertebrae, which inevitably leads to back and neck pain. It is not without reason that professional drivers, construction machine operators, warehouse workers and also landscapers are particularly affected by this problem.
The concept of the Stand-on mower eliminates this problem because the operator stands on a spring-loaded platform. Foot, knee and hip joints can be moved in all directions. The head and neck area remains straight and the operator's weight is distributed over the spine, hips, knees and the soles of the feet as intended, without overstraining individual parts of the organism.
The spring-loaded platform absorbs the stress caused by uneven ground. What then remains can be absorbed by the body over a longer period of time due to the standing position than in a seated position.
IS Suspension Ferris ZTR Rides in general and Stand-on machines in particular can be a godsend for people with physical limitations such as described back and neck pain. There are government (or often insurer) subsidy schemes for employers who allow people with disabilities to return to work, often with reimbursement (or partial reimbursement) for the purchase of machinery that physically relieves them from the stressful situations that sitting, unsuspended work now brings. Also, prevention is better than cure; keep your staff healthy and motivated. This can prevent people with such limitations who do want to work from becoming unavailable to the labour market through early retirement.
