Keep Your Marketing Simple(r)

Please test and validate before adding complexity.

“Launching” new things is fun and exciting.

But requires more than you realize.

Landon here,

And I want to save you some hard earned $$.

Most people…

Have an idea.

Create a program/course/offer/etc.

Hire a team to build a funnel.

Bring on a copywriter to write copy and emails.

Hire a media buyer to start running ads.

Then sit back expecting to sip Pina Colada's while they watch the Stripe payment notifications roll in.

The reality…

9/10 times it fails.

And they’re out a lot of time, money, and frustration.

(The worst is if they keep running ads trying to make it work)

Here’s what I recommend doing instead:

KYMS.

Keep your marketing simple.

"Fire bullets then cannonballs." as Jim Collins wrote.

Test small.

Validate the concept.

Then layer on complexity.

Save yourself a lot of time, effort, and $$.

Here’s a real-world example…

Last week a client showed me 4 lead magnets she wanted to run ads to.

We jumped on a quick Zoom call where I explained.

Each one would need at a minimum:

  • A formatted "thing" (pdf, video, google doc, etc.)
  • Landing page/funnel.
  • ^^ Copy.
  • Email sequence.
  • Tracking.
  • Ad creative.
  • ^^ Ad copy.
  • Ad spend.

= Lots of time + money.

While having no idea if it's going to work.

Instead, here’s what I suggested:

  • We record 1-2 Instagram reels.
  • Use an Instant Form on Facebook.

Trimming the fat and creating a MVP (min viable product)

  • No landing page needed.
  • No tracking needed.
  • No designers or hours in Canva needed.
  • No copywriters needed.

First,

We identify which lead magnet has the best cost-per-lead (Validation)

Then,

We build out assets for it.

Keep it simple.

Keep it profitable.

Simple businesses scale.

Hope this helps.
