Keep Your Fork

Keep Your Fork

A woman was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was told she had only three months to live. She asked her Pastor to visit her home and discuss her final wishes. She shared the songs she wanted at her funeral, the scriptures she hoped would be read, and then said, "One more thing – I want to be buried with a fork in my hand."

The Pastor, puzzled, asked her to explain.

She smiled and said, “In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the main course was cleared away, someone would say, ‘Keep your fork.’ It was always my favorite part because I knew something better was coming – like chocolate cake or apple pie. Something wonderful."

"So, I want people to see me there in my casket with a fork in my hand and wonder, ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then I want you to tell them, ‘Keep your fork, because the best is yet to come.’”

The Pastor was deeply moved by her incredible positivity and wisdom.

At her funeral, when people asked about the fork, the Pastor shared her story. He said he couldn’t stop thinking about it and knew it would leave an impact. He was right. The message stayed with everyone—her unshakable belief that no matter what happens, there’s always something better ahead.

Every day brings the chance for change and growth. Keep a positive mindset, and know that no matter where you are in life, the best is yet to come.

Happy New Year 2025! May this year bring you joy, growth, and endless possibilities as you look forward "Into the Future". Keep your fork, the best is yet to come!
