Don't let anything stop you, ensure that you sustain during ups and downs, insults and criticisms and develop the right attitude to lead a successful life. I see Entrepreneurs losing hope after pitching 40 to 50 times and not getting funded. Recently an entrepreneur told me that she is shutting down the business because 3 of the 5 clients, didn't paid their dues. A lot of people leave their job because of the office politics, many of them leave because of the boss. However, this is not the right way. You should keep moving, no matter what. Always have a winning spirit, never say die, never give up.
I am sharing a story of a winner that will give you strength to not give a shit about the people who try ill treat and degrade you. This story will give you the hopes to look at the positives of life by making you to see the life from their perspective. You will get the necessary motivation to overcome the obstacles of life by showing you the various possible ways to harness all you energy to your aim.
This is a story of a person whose life tells us that regardless of his sufferings, painful moments, continuous failures, he never took an easy way out and committed to follow his dreams with sheer determination and dedication. It is the story of Károly Takács.
Károly was a passionate soldier in Hungarian army. He was the best pistol shooter of Hungary. He won all the national championships. Everyone was pretty sure that he will definitely win gold in 1940 Olympics.
He trained himself like an animal for years. His aim was to make his hand - “the best shooting hand in the world”
One day there was a training camp going on. He was also involved in that as he was in army. During the training, something happened which changed his life forever. He met with an accident. His hand(shooting hand) was blown off by the blast of a hand grenade. His shooting hand became useless. His dreams were shattered.
He had two options :
- Cry & blame his destiny for the rest of his life ,or
- Keep focusing on his goal
He chose the second one. He focused on his only hand left, his left hand.
One month later
He was discharged from the hospital, he started his training.
Year : 1939
He came back in a national championship. All the other shooters went to him and congratulated him by praising his sportsman spirit to come for their encouragement.
He replied “I’m not here to encourage you but to compete with you. Get ready folks”
The competition began. Everyone was competing with their best hand but he was competing with his only hand.
And to everyone’s surprise, he won.
But that was not enough for him. He was still focused on his dream to make his hand, the best shooting hand in the world. He was all set for 1940 Olympics.
Year : 1940
Olympics got cancelled due to world war. He didn’t lose his patience and focused on next Olympics.
Year : 1944
Olympics again got cancelled due to world war. Again he didn’t lose his patience and focused on next Olympics. (God was testing his patience)
Mind you, in 1938 his age was 28 years and in 1948 his age was 38 years. In most of the sports, it’s harder for a aged athlete to complete with young ones.
But the word “difficult” was not in his dictionary.
Year : 1948
Finally the Olympics were conducted. This time he got the chance to fulfill his dream.
Again everyone was competing with their best hand but he was competing with his only hand.
Guess who won ? The man with the only hand.
That was still not enough for him. He went on.
Year : 1952
He competed again in Olympics and I won’t ask you to guess the winner this time. He won twice in a row.
He created history. In that particular competition, before him, no other athlete won two gold medals consecutively.
