It’s important in life to look back at your past. Not to dwell, not to feel sorry for yourself, but to truly see the distance you have travelled.
You might still have a long way to go to be the person you want to be, or have the life you want to live, or to be cancer free. But knowing you have already survived previous hurdles means you have the capacity to fight many more.
We all fall down many times on our life journey but it’s the getting up that is the most important part. That tenacity to keep going, to keep experiencing, to keep loving, to keep smiling, to keep giving, to keep fighting and to keep living.
Today is International Cancer Survivor's Day, and there are many people who have not been able to survive their fight. Not because they were weak or didn’t try hard enough, but because sadly, like many illnesses, there is still no known cure and still no known successful treatments for some types and strengths of cancer, and so, sometimes the battle is too great.
However, for everyone that has faced cancer at some point in their life or battling it just now, remember some important things.
You are not alone, there is a community of us all over the world, you are greater than the illness, you are more deeper and compassionate for having gone through it, and you embody love and resilience in every step you take.
Embrace the love around you, reach out to the world for support and remember to appreciate and love the person you are.
You are amazing!

4 年Thank you for this, Cameron. I think our paths crossed at QMU. Almost two years ago to the day I had surgery for oral cancer. I then had radiotherapy. But like you I have survived and thrived. Thank you for your words of inspiration. Wishing you well. James.
