So many of us get stuck in the name of daily grind (read transactional life), that upgrading/improving ourselves seems like a luxury: Want it but is really expensive!
Looking at the lives of successful people, we will find some commonalities: Taking care of their health, reading books, failing a lot etc. So what really stops majority of us from "watering our own lawn's"?
Think about it - Is your neighbor's lawn greener because you are not watering your's?
Here's a small set of suggestions that I am using on myself and it seems to be working, not perfect but better then no progress:
- Make your improvements byte sized and have list of 4-5 of them on your ToDo. For example, if you are trying to resume your reading habit, keep a variety of books around you. Reduce your target from finishing the book to finishing the chapter before a distraction takes you away.
- Use Udemy or similar online teachers/coaches for overview learning of topics of interest, which will give a quick foundation to explore further.
- Don't persist with improvements which are not striking your interest.
- Tidy up your home/work space - Use the rule of 5 (5 small improvements every day).
- Break larger sized projects into smaller track-able tasks and create a ToDo.
There are loads of books, blogs, videos - basically pick the method that works for you but keep improving everyday! Good luck.
