Keep the hope alive

Keep the hope alive

There could have not been a better start to my day than listening to Hauser's performance of Puccini's Nessun Dorma. Pula is his hometown and, as opposed to the summer of 2018 when he held his gala concert in front of the full auditorium, this time he performs in empty Arena. Nonetheless, somehow I can sense a standing ovation.

Incredibly moving performance, evoking plethora of emotions with a strong message he is sending out of Croatia to the whole world by “dedicating it to all frontline workers around the world and paying tribute to all that is good in humanity”. #AloneTogether #HAUSER

Arena in Pula, constructed in the period of Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD) is the only remaining Roman amphitheater in the world to have four side towers and all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved. This amphitheater, among the world’s six largest surviving Roman arenas, was the venue for many different events hosting some of the most eminent world artists with its capacity of about 5000 spectators.

Puccini’s opera Turandot had its premiere in Teatro alla Scala di Milano on 25th April 1926, two years after author’s death. Nessun Dorma is the most famed aria from the final act of this piece and has the message that love melts even the coldest hearts.

The symbolism behind it is so powerful. This invaluable Croatian historic monument that endured so many centuries through ups and downs and this aria with the declamatory ending “Vincero” (I will win) is the message of hope. We will also get through this and remember "this too shall pass…”

I had the urge to share this with all of you hoping it will make your day as well and send some comfort in these challenging times. Whole video of this concert "Alone, Together" can be seen on HAUSER official YouTube channel.

Take care and #staysafe
