KEEP CLIMBING

KEEP CLIMBING

AS A BUSINESS OWNER OR LEADER, ARE YOU OVERWHELMED AND SOMETIMES EVEN SCARED?

I am and I'm realizing the same holds true for many of my coaching clients. It's freakin' hard being a solo entrepreneur. There is so much effort and time needed to lead and operate a successful business. Heck, for some, it's hard enough putting food into their bellies.

I'm no expert in time management, but I will say this, you don't have to climb the whole damn mountain at once. If you want to be a great climber or in this case, a great business leader, focus on what is right in front of you. Remove the distractions. Focus on every move... Or risk falling and never achieving the goal (the summit). And if you're scared? That's a good thing when you're "climbing". It keeps you present and diligent. Embrace it and maybe you won't be as careless with your time.

We need to ask ourselves... What's most important right NOW? Is that social media post really that important right NOW? Do I really need to take that phone call? Do I need to answer that email or text right NOW?

Did I map out a strategic plan of attack? Did I write down my wins and lessons learned from last week and create targets for what's upcoming? Am I breaking my goals down into the current moment? What are 3 tasks that I must complete today to "win the day" and ultimately, the week, the month, the year?

Am I focused on the task at hand, remaining maniacally focused and removing the distractions to dominate this part of "the climb"? If I do this, I can celebrate the progress frequently moving up the hill. Ultimately, seeing how far up I have gone will keep me motivated and will positively impact my discipline needed to reach the peak.

The fact is, climbing mountains are never easy, but there is a big payoff if we stay present on what truly matters most on each piece of the journey. Our time is valuable and we should always, always be thinking about getting the return on that investment.

Lastly, think of ways to build infrastructure. Take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and connect with others wanting to see the awesome view from the top with you. You don't have to be solo on this sometimes scary adventure, plus it just may be a bit easier and much more fun together.
