KAWNEER SOLUTIONS FEATURE ON A PRESTIGIOUS LONDON WORKSPACE DEVELOPMENT?

Providing a highly flexible range of permanent and flexible working space options, the 85,000 sqft Uncommon Holborn is workspace provider Uncommon’s latest and largest flagship location.?

Constructed in the 1950’s and the former headquarters of London Underground (Templar House), the building has undergone a Category A fitout, designed by architects astudio london and overseen by main contractor Structure Tone London.?

Installed by approved specialist subcontractor JPJ Installations Ltd, a wide range of Kawneer’s architectural aluminium glazing solutions were chosen for this extensive refurbishment project.?

Offering design flexibility, two types of Kawneer Curtain Wall Systems were used, the AA?100 Zone-Drained Curtain Wall System on the shopfront area and amenity areas. The flexibility of the AA?100 was required because of the 3m spans in the staircase areas, which were logistically difficult to glaze. The AA?110 Mullion-Drained Curtain Wall System was used for the rooflights in the East and West areas of the ground floor.?

Replicating the original sash windows, Kawneer’s AA?3610 Vertical Sliding Windows were installed on the 9th Floor roof terrace for their performance and aesthetics. Kawneer’s Tilturn Windows, Doors and Fixed Lights feature on a link block.?

The AA?190 TB Severe-Duty Entrance Doors, for use in high traffic areas, was selected for the shopfronts, main entrance and amenity areas and the AA?720 HI Doors were fitted on the High Holborn elevation of the building. Working closely with the client, JPJ Installations replicated the original vertical sash windows and devised an internal picture frame surround which included stick-on applied bars.?

THE AUGUST GLENIGAN REPORT IS HERE?

August’s Glenigan Construction Review builds a complete picture of the emerging trends within the industry. Based on in-depth monthly data from across the UK it reveals some key positives, despite detailed planning approvals being down 32% since 2023.???

Current figures suggest some quarterly challenges but grounds for optimism when data is viewed from an annual perspective. A case in point is project starts, which averaged £10,198 million per month for work commenced on site, a decrease on the previous three months but an effective rise of some 8% compared to last year. Major project starts (£100 million or more in value) fared even better across the year, increasing by an impressive 42% compared with 2023. While at £9,053 million per month, main contracts awarded are up 3% compared to the same time last year.??

Against these ongoing changes and challenges, the one constant is Kawneer UK. We’re here to support clients in developing the projects of tomorrow, with the advanced product portfolio and expertise you need to enhance and showcase outstanding new projects.??
