With all the media and speculation surrounding Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs, and Coach Popovich one thing is clear - uncertainty is in the air. The future of the Spurs, for the first time in well over a decade, is going into the offseason with more questions than answers. However, one thing that is certain is that Kawhi needs to get a handle on who is guiding his very valuable NBA career. And he needs to do it fast.
Who represents you as an athlete can speak volumes as to who you are and what you can achieve - during and after your career. ESPN's breaking story Inside the Tension between Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs, highlights an important change in his "representation."
As the article states "Elfus' departure came around the same time several other football agents left the company. Ron Butler, Tony Fleming and Sean Kiernan all confirmed to ESPN that neither they nor their clients are associated with Impact Sports anymore. In fact, there doesn't appear to be an Impact Sports at all. The company website is under construction."
Scary stuff for a player that is on the verge of a SuperMax, don't you think?
Why the silence? Is his injury real? Does he want to leave for "bigger" pastures? Whatever his objectives may be, so be it. However, his reputation has taken a beating. Think about this - How does a guy who less than 6 months ago was viewed as one of the NBA's best players (offensive or defensive), most respectable on and off the court players, a player known for his frugal spending habits and calm, teachable demeanor go to be the problem child?
Questions have been swirling but his camp has been silent. Maybe it is calculated. Maybe it is mere unfamiliarity on how to respond. Does he want to be in LA? Is he actually injured? Do he and his "group" have other plans for his future. Who knows - does he even know? However, one thing is certain for young NBA players such as Kawhi - decent representation is not enough. In an era where social media dominates the moment - the best guidance & consultation is not just important but absolutely imperative. There are a lot of changes going on with Kawhi's current NBA sports agency and in this case, the changes aren't exactly for the better.
Today, a local pizza and brewing company offered Kawhi free pizza for life if he remained with the Spurs. I will double down on the offer and offer our services for free to Kawhi - regardless of where he wants to play.
"If Kawhi signs with FSM Sports, I will represent him without pay. I want what is best for his future. Period."
Dennis, Kawhi, if you're listening - call me. This offer expires quick!
PS. I encourage you to look at my reputation, track record, and experience. I assure you, I am someone you want in your rolodex gentlemen.
