Now when it comes to leadership (like every part of our lives at this point in time) we are living in an age redefined by unwritten rules, unspoken boundaries, and a new way of living. Change has never been easy, but the one thing we do know is that we no longer have a choice - and how we lead is where this knowledge matters the most. We have entered a new day which is inviting in a new kind of purpose-driven influence and inspiration - a new kind of leadership and that is the exact reason why….I wanted to bring into a spot a friend, a colleague and someone with whom I deeply admire - Katrina Webb.
To give you some background - Katrina’s early career saw her competing in the upper echelons of sport on a global stage battling it out for bronze, silver and gold medals across two Paralympic Games, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.
Katrina's Paralympic journey began in her late teens when she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. That said forever seeking a purpose, Katrina turned her disability into a shining opportunity to not only win medals - but to act as a catalyst for conversations highlighting the fact that not all limitations are apparent to the naked eye - and she believes that building compassionate and purpose driven cultures whether that be sporting teams or global corporations must start by developing a narrative that includes all types of diversity - seen and unseen.
Now as you can imagine it was natural for Katrina to embark on a career in the speaking industry like so many elite athletes before her - but For Katrina, the stage became more than a platform to talk about winning gold - it was about purpose - and her purpose as a speaker led her to a passion for leadership transformations, unlocking high performance and decoding meaningful human motivation. She transformed her profile into purpose - creating gold for one and for all.
Since then, Katrina has graced the TEDx stage and has spoken alongside names like Sir Richard Branson, Jack Ma and Usain Bolt. She has represented Australia at both the United Nations and as an ambassador for the International Paralympic Committee. On a personal level, she is also a profoundly passionate philanthropist raising funds for the health, education and protection of children in Nepal. Never afraid of a challenge she has also trekked Kokoda on two separate occasions.
Today, Katrina has also found her footing as a passionate social entrepreneur. In 2017 she founded 'New Day Leadership'. New Day is a platform and thought leadership brand with a mission to inspire leadership for the greater good in an age being redefined by rapid change, uncertainty and a return to community principles that focus on purpose-driven business principles.
So without further delay, kick back, grab your green juice, detox tea, coffee or a glass of vino - and get ready to kick back and take in a serious dose of inspiration. I know this podcast will give you 1001 reasons to look to the sky and believe that there is a new day, a brighter day and a more hopeful day just around the corner.
