In a significant political development, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the cancellation of the diplomatic passport of JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. The request comes in light of allegations involving obscene videos and sexual abuse. Siddaramaiah has emphasized the need for "prompt and concerted actions to secure his return to India."
The letter, dated May 22, condemns Revanna's actions, highlighting that he fled to Germany on April 27, 2024, using his diplomatic passport shortly after news of his alleged crimes surfaced and just hours before the first FIR was filed against him. Siddaramaiah expressed his dismay, stating it is "shameful" that Revanna managed to leave the country under such circumstances.
The Karnataka government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the charges against Prajwal Revanna. The SIT's efforts include securing Revanna’s presence in India to face the legal consequences of his actions.
CM Siddaramaiah's letter calls on PM Modi to ensure Revanna's return from Germany, where he sought refuge following the scandal. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has received the communication from the Karnataka government, as reported by PTI.
Prajwal Revanna, currently contesting for re-election in the general elections, is the NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat and the grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda.
On May 22, Minister Parameshwara reiterated the state government's plea to the Centre, urging it to revoke Revanna's diplomatic passport following a court-issued warrant. He stressed the necessity for Central support within the legal framework, stating, "The Centre should help us within the framework of the law."

Revanna's departure to Germany, a day after the Hassan polls on April 27, underscores the urgency of the situation. He faces multiple charges of sexual abuse, with the SIT and Interpol actively seeking information on his whereabouts through a Blue Corner Notice.
