Karma or Revenge

A long time back I read this quote:
"Karma: No need for revenge. Just sit back and wait. Those who hurt you eventually screw up themselves and if you are lucky, God will let you watch it"
Less than a month back I faced a lot of problems relating to my accommodation in Mumbai. Something that I never faced in the last six years of my stay here alone.
A lot of unresolved issues and threats from my roommates forced me to vacate my place overnight. It caused not only loss of money but also huge emotional trauma. Every time I shut my eyes for the next two weeks I would relive the entire episode. At times my body would shiver. I never felt so powerless, harassed and captured by any energy my entire life. I felt paralyzed as though there was nothing I could do about it. I stopped reacting to a lot of things and would just stay numb as if I was watching everything as an audience in a theatre but sadly I was the protagonist.
As I reflect back and forth, several thoughts came into my mind, how I could have gone back and dealt with the scenario with more confidence or how I should have stood up like a hero as they do in movies despite being alone. Everything was vain.
Growing up on a diet of Hindi movies, revenge was something that I thought of very naturally. I would keep thinking of ways to get back, but except for temporary pleasure and momentary power, it gave me nothing. Also I never even intended to act upon any of those thoughts as I always treat people the way I would like to be treated. All I wanted to know was what important lesson did this incident carry for me.
With the support of my family and friends and a short vacation, I was definitely able to distract myself and put the matter to an end surface level. But internally I still remain conflicted:
· How much should one tolerate and wait for karma to step in to do its job?
· Can taking revenge be justified as doing karma's job ourselves?
· How do we know if karma is doing its job but, against us for something we did wrong?
Your views(in the comments below) would definitely help me to get a different perspective. Looking forward to it.

6 年· How much should one tolerate and wait for karma to step in to do its job? Once it causes stress deep within, it’s time to walk away. Stress is unhealthy when it starts to tear up your soul. · Can taking revenge be justified as doing karma's job ourselves? No need to take revenge. Only strive for positive energy in every step of your journey · How do we know if karma is doing its job but, against us for something we did wrong? The universe will speak to karma and guide karma to take action when it’s time. When we focus on positive thoughts, we live in a state of elation and our lives become fulfilled with affirmations and energies of humility, integrity, charity and love. When a person focuses on being a good person over and over again, it will eventually turn into greatness. Life becomes much richer when we live to give to others and uplift those around us.
