#Kantara – A Movie that took Storytelling to its Epitome in the World of Cinema

As the film’s protagonist aka director, storywriter, actor, #RishabShetty says, “more Regional is more Universal”, #Kantara stood out as ONE of not just India’s but World’s Best Ever Created Cinema.

I do not post my movie blogs or reviews on LinkedIn; but this time it is worth sharing as this piece of cinema is a masterpiece, that is rare to find in history and in the coming days. ?

#Kantara portrays the existence of demi-gods in a tribal village in India. The work of a Panjurli(demi-god) is to protect the village and villagers from the evils of the world. In this journey through the world of #Panjurlis, several questions come to the surface – Is tradition vulnerable that its own people unknowingly can act against it? Does evil look out for the weakest source always? Is it necessary to safeguard tradition and why? Is civilization another name for evil, or is it an aid to protect the tradition, the roots?

#RishabShetty’s masterpiece work unfurls these secrets in fast-paced, detailed screens, spectacular tribal set, amazing cast-and-crew, haunting songs, and breadth-taking direction, that keeps you glued from Act-I, Sc-1, till ‘The End’. It was an experience to watch, to an extent that you don’t wish to close your eyelids, incase you lose a scene.

Shiva, the protagonist is all about breaking the traditional ways of living in the tribe. He has no inclination of being a Panjurli to perform for Bhoota Kola festival. But, his non-traditional way of living in-hands with destiny, finds a way to transform his life and the life of the village. Will he be the right Panjurli? Can he bring back the peace? Can he unite the worlds together to protect the tribe? This amazing journey of Shiva and his clan is the integral content of this movie!

The message in the movie is clear – Tradition MUST be protected from evil; they are the roots of a civilization (namely #Hinduism). In this microcosmic world of villagers, you (as audience) are bound to come face-to-face with the brutal truth of the macrocosmic world. It also stirs your #roleplay in this world.

The movie’s sub-plot is on Shiva’s love interest, Leela. This area has been criticized as half-baked and barbaric. Well, here’s my view: The protagonist is a tribal who defies every possible life and decorum of the village; so, do you expect timidity and civilized mannerisms in his flirting and lovemaking? So, if you want to enjoy this movie, keep your civilized manners locked up in the cupboard before coming to the theatres. And there lies the craftmanship of #RishabShetty’s work, that soon you become a tribal in the world of #Kantara. As you sit at the edge of your seat, the terrific entry of the protagonist’s powerful stature (in both height and weight) of a racing bullock cart keeps you spellbound, his action scenes keep you in awe, and the climax makes you bow down in reverence!

And that is why Kantara is racing and breaking records becoming the best movie of 2022 that India has to offer to the world. It has been dubbed in all South India languages and recently in Hindi and English. Though in its making #RishabShetty invested 15-16cr only; it has already gained 170cr from its collection in India and 188cr worldwide. With this amazing Diwali gift from the place where I belong now, #Karnataka (that never fails me to be in awe), I die-heartedly recommend #Kantara to be watched ONLY in THEATRES for it to become Alive when you are living this movie!
