Kansas City has been named as the new location for two federal agriculture agencies
Economic Research Service (ERS), and the grant-making National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) will be moving to the Kansas City Metro Area. Kansas City has benefitted from a thriving technology sector...as San Francisco-based Pramata recently opened an office in the Crossroads Arts District. The announced moves of ERS and NIFA are interesting, since these are D.C.-based federal agencies, relocating, to the City of Fountains.
The Economic Research Service analyzes agricultural and rural economics. The National Institute of Food and Agriculture uses agricultural research to contribute to science policy decision-making.
Cited as an influencing factor for the announced moves by the agencies? The increased likelihood of being able to recruit top talent...which is partially attributed to the low cost of living in Kansas City, as compared to Washington D.C.
“The Kansas City Region has proven itself to be a hub for all things agriculture and is a booming city in America’s heartland.” - Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue
