The Kamome Relay runs from Hakata station (Fukuoka) to Takeo-Onsen. The Kamome then flys from Takeo-Onsen to Nagasaki (Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen).
The Kamome Shinkansen (Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen) is a recently opened line in Kyushu, serving the northwestern coast.
“A series of improved safety features will also be present on the train, such as ATC (automatic train control), security cameras, and a braking system designed for earthquakes or other emergency situations. A battery-powered propulsion system will also enable the train to continue operating in the event of a power outage.”? From JRailpass.com
The Shinkansen runs from 25kVAC, and has distributed power (power applied to motors at more than one locomotive/car, relieving stress on axles). With this high voltage, the electrical power feed lines can transmit large amounts of power at a lower current, current being associated with line loss. The power is connected to the trains through pantographs, and is converted internally by transformers to 1500 Volts. AC synchronous motors are used.
The word shin means new or true . Shinkansen (しんかんせん)? trains often are assigned to separate stations, designated with the prefix Shin. Thus, Shin-Yokohama and Shin-Osaka are the respective Shinkansen stations in those cities. And then there is Shin Godzilla (Gojira, ゴジラ or ごじら)、 another subject.
After the Fukushima earthquake, a small boat, the Kamome, was cast to sea from Takata High School, and traveled across the? Pacific to Crescent City, Ca. Today, the students at Del Norte High School (Crescent City) celebrate their Kamome festival in April.
