Kajima Malaysia Sponsors and Participates in the ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon 2024

On the 12th of May, 2024, Kajima Malaysia proudly sponsored and participated in the ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon, held at Taman Komunity Putra Heights. This event marked an important milestone in our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, as we continue to support community engagement and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

About ALEPS

The Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS) comprises former graduates of Japanese universities and technical colleges who were direct beneficiaries of the Look East Policy programs. As a society of Japanese alumni, ALEPS plays a significant role in promoting Japanese education in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia. Their efforts contribute to strengthening educational and cultural ties between Malaysia and Japan.

Embracing the Spirit of Ekiden

The ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon is a unique event that embodies the traditional Japanese ekiden spirit, where relay races bring teams together to compete in a display of endurance, teamwork, and camaraderie. This year’s event, hosted primarily by the Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS) and supported by Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ) and the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, saw an impressive turnout with nearly 1,520 contestants racing through the scenic Putra Heights community park in Subang Jaya.

Kajima Malaysia's Enthusiastic Participation

Kajima Malaysia fielded a strong contingent with 10 teams, comprising a total of 50 staff members, who eagerly took on the challenge. Our employees demonstrated exceptional teamwork and dedication, embodying the core values that Kajima Malaysia stands for. Each team member played a crucial role, passing the sash (tasuki) to their teammates, ensuring a continuous and spirited race. Notably, our Management team, known as "Running Man" and led by Mr. Katsuya Tada, secured the 1st runner-up position in the International Mixed Category. All other teams finished the race triumphantly, showcasing genuine sportsmanship that garnered praise and even made headlines in publications and social media.

A Commitment to Health and Community

Sponsoring the ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon is part of our broader CSR strategy to contribute positively to the communities in which we operate. The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where all participants were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication.

Prize Donation to CETDEM

We at Kajima Malaysia would like to congratulate “Running Man”, the winning podium team, and all of the other teams. We are pleased to announce that the RM1,000 prize won by the "Running Man" team will be donated to CETDEM. Founded in 1985, CETDEM is an independent, non-profit organisation based in Petaling Jaya. Their work revolves around research, advocacy, education, and consultancy, committed to improving environmental quality through the appropriate use of technology and sustainable development. This donation reflects our commitment to supporting environmental sustainability and contributing to meaningful causes.
