Kaiser Permanente opens Pt Centered-Tech Driven Community Clinic in Santa Monica. But no telerehab ....yet.
I went to take the tour of the newly opened KP Santa Monica Medical Offices that offer convenience for it's policy holders with access to primary care services for members living near by. I was there to see the latest deployment of the Hub/Spoke telemedicine model that many hospital systems are innovating into. Truly a well-thought physical lay-out, almost Zen-like environment with technology embedded everywhere but seemingly blended into the "patient centered" context. Joanna Bialy spent time explaining the deliberate nuances of technology led-core centric clinical operations from kiosk check-in to synchronous specialty services available as needed. Bravo to KP for setting the standards high with an innovative hybrid service model. I was also informed that another "campus" is in the works. After coming back from the ACI Telemedicine Conference in Orlando, where I also visited The Florida Hospital, with a similar innovative clinical model, I recognize that the birth of early triage and reporting, wellness and prevention are finding traction. The Triple Aim of the Affordable Care Act can be realized. I believe the next steps will lead to where I feel the real continuum of care takes place, in the home, work or anywhere the consumer is. And that pathway leads to the integration of telerehabilitation services.; where every day we passionately engage our online clients to move towards recovery and health. Go 2 Care will continue to advocate for telerehab consultation, education, services, and policy. Congrats KP for pioneering a conscientious pathway.
