Seizing the Kairos Moment: An Interview with Mpho Makwana

Being appointed as the youngest Chair, amongst his many other accolades has been recurring feature in his career. In a continent where the average age is 19, it was refreshing to hear lessons from someone whom, at the age of 40, was the youngest Chairman at Eskom, and at 51, was appointed Chairperson of Nedbank― the youngest to assume the role in an organisation for which Mr Makwana expressed "has understood the power of creating and shaping purposeful organisations"

An engagement with Mr Mpho Makwana was insightful, spiritually enlightened and deeply rooted in leadership lessons. He is poised, and calm― a disarming strategy to think through your intentions. When asked what he considered to be the makings of a good leader, Mr Makwana referenced Joel A Barker: "A leader is a person you will follow to a place you wouldn't go by yourself"

So apt indeed, because I believe that Mr Makwana is capable of leading us to uncharted territories.

This was an interview that left me yearning for more. It felt short, despite the power interruption, At the end of the interview, I was left stunned for words, immediately feeling the discussion was so thoughtful and well-articulated. Mr Makwana is deeply profound.
