Kairos: A Changing of the Guard

Reflecting on the passing of the Queen, ascent of Alcaraz, Fed's retirement and legacy choices

We all have heroes, mentors.

Coaches, adviser/ors, counselors, sages, celebrities, royalty, masters and healers.

For some, heroism is found in less lauded, auspice or fanfare #auspicious #auspiciousness

Quieter forces.

Seminal influences like our parents, teachers or grandparents.

La Verdad

All the above are germane to contributing to who we are and who we become.

But the real beauty of "life" conjures a quote I remember resonating during college:

There comes that mysterious meeting in life
when someone acknowledges #WhoWeAre
and #WhatWeCanBe
Igniting the circuits of our highest potential
~Rusty Berkus

When our dreams, the desires of our hearts, the people we admire and look up to start noticing us

Passing the baton. Nodding to the next and new. Heralding the future...

Regarding the magisterium, the cosmos, the universe (without getting mired in minutia or nebulous superstition/speculation)

Magic, beauty and inspiration is all around us.

And the shocking truth, the elusive revelation/unveil?

It always was

always has been

and always will be.

We just have to have the eyes to see, ears to hear and mind/heart to receive

EXCERPTS

The Road to Character #DavidBrooks

#theInnerLife

  • Good, wise hearts are obtained through lifetimes of diligent effort to dig deeply within and heal lifetime scars
  • IT has to be discovered within the depths of one's own heart --

when a person is finally ready to go looking for it, and not before

  • Setting an example: leading from within; leading with love

#RunTowardHope #thisPlaceisWorthy #aura #thatwhichenduresfromthatwhichFades

  • Being a model for others -- not external motivation, but internal
  • Cultivating the inner life, re: heroes, legends

"And when we think of them, it is not primarily what they accomplished that we remember
-- great though that may have been --
It Is #WhoTheyWere #WhoTheyAre

[versus hubris, ego, vanity, arrogance] is internal.

Inner triumphs, victories (versus outer acclaim, notoriety, prestige, fame, glory, accolades). The small battles/victories won, that no one sees, knows or hears about. Character, integrity ... earned by being better than you used to be #growth #growthmindset

  • Happiness is overrated. Joy and abundance involves a sense of acceptance, peace and understanding

SOULS are like athletes
that need opponents worthy of them,
if they are to be tried
and extended
and pushed
to the full use of their powers
~Thomas Merton
