Kai Fu Lee - A product of America, now China's most ambitious AI tech titan?

Kai Fu Lee, China's darling tech titan is threatening to upend AI as we know it. Lee, who primarily invested in tech startups in China is now CEO of his own startup which has now reached unicorn status - a $1 Billion valuation. Lee's new company makes current AI models look like child's play and far surpasses Meta's current open-source AI platform.

Kai Fu Lee may be Chinese, but don't let him fool you. He's a product of American universities and U.S. Big Tech. Actually, Lee is really Taiwanese, so it's a bit strange to see him doing so much on the mainland. He earned his PH.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, and worked for the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Google, but now his aspirations seem to be more in line with the communist party of China than any private company.

Lee is famous for saying that "Data is the new oil, and China is the new Saudi Arabia of data". What Lee failed to see was that although China has all the data, the US controls the chips that work on that data. Sure, you may be Saudi Arabia now, but we are still the United States of America. We invented modern innovation as we know it.

The U.S. gave the world to Kai Fu Lee, and Lee chose the Chinese Communist Party. While many of his bets on startups have been spot-on, he may find himself on the wrong side of history all of a sudden. Lee, though he won't admit it, is now just another scientist using his skills to enrich the communist party that he loves so much, not to mention betraying his home country of Taiwan (yes, it's a country). Yes, even some of the most brilliant minds choose the wrong side. What a sad fate for Lee.
