Reliance Brings Shein Back to India, and How!

Shein is making a comeback in India, thanks to a strategic move by Reliance Retail. Nearly five years after being banned, the fast fashion giant is back with a fresh new app that quietly went live last Saturday. This marks a bold shift in Reliance's game plan to dominate India's fashion e-commerce scene.

But there's a twist; unlike before, all Shein products will now be designed and manufactured locally, aligning with India's regulatory requirements. The brand’s latest app, Shein India Fast Fashion, is already delivering in select cities like New Delhi and Mumbai, with dresses starting at just ?350.

Rather than blending it into Ajio, Reliance is betting on Shein as a standalone app, signaling confidence in its appeal to India’s price-conscious, fashion-forward audience.

Will Shein reclaim its cult status in India’s competitive market? Time will tell, but it's clear this collaboration has fashion lovers talking already!

Kagi, a new search engine better than Google?

If you're frustrated with search results filled with ads and AI-generated content that doesn't always hit the mark, Kagi offers a refreshing alternative.

While Google prioritizes advertisers, Kagi focuses on delivering a clean and user-first search experience.

Here’s what makes Kagi stand out:

  • Ad-Free, Personalized Results: Kagi keeps your search results clutter-free, focusing on genuine, high-quality content instead of paid ads.
  • Complete Control: Customize your search results by blocking specific sites, boosting your favorite ones, and even creating “lenses” to filter results by categories like academic sources or forums.
  • Smarter Summaries: With one-click summaries, you can skim the key points of search results or entire pages without diving deep.

Kagi operates on a subscription model ($5-$25/month), meaning it prioritizes users over advertisers. And while it doesn't claim to be a “Google killer,” it’s winning over Redditors, tech enthusiasts, and even Apple evangelist John Gruber, who called it "the best search engine in the world."

Think of Kagi as the boutique coffee shop in a world dominated by fast-food chains; smaller, thoughtful, and tailored for those who crave something better.

The PR Game ain’t fooling anyone anymore

Bollywood is known to be an unforgiving industry. Debut actor Veer Pahariya, who featured in Sky Force alongside Akshay Kumar, is currently facing heavy trolling online. Despite a strong PR campaign leading up to his debut, Veer is being criticized for his limited screen presence in a film that heavily relied on Kumar's star power.

The extensive promotion surrounding Veer's role created significant buzz, with media outlets and social media posts hyping his debut. However, the heightened expectations seem to have backfired, as audiences felt let down by his brief role in the movie. Adding fuel to the fire, a viral video of Veer dancing with a theater goer during a screening drew further criticism, with many accusing him of overcompensating for a supporting role.

While the PR efforts may have been excessive, it's worth noting that Veer's intent likely stemmed from a desire to make a strong impression. As the grandson of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Veer has access to significant resources, which he understandably leveraged for his Bollywood launch.

But what started as playful trolling took a shocking turn when comedian Pranit More was allegedly attacked for joking about Veer during a live show.

According to an Instagram post by Pranit's team, the incident occurred after a show in Solapur on February 2, 2025. Around 11-12 men, disguised as fans, reportedly approached Pranit and physically assaulted him. The post claims that the attackers, led by a man named Tanveer Shaikh, threatened the comedian, warning him not to joke about Veer Pahariya again. One of the attackers allegedly said, “Agli Baar Veer Pahariya Baba Pe Joke Maarke Dikha.”

Veer addressed the situation on Instagram, expressing shock and condemning the violence. He clarified that he had no involvement in the incident

As audiences grow more selective, it's clear that they crave authentic engagement and meaningful content. Over-the-top promotional campaigns may no longer have the same charm they once did. Even stars themselves seem to be catching on to the changing mood.

Instagram working 24/7 to give us new features

Instagram will soon let you edit your profile grid and rearrange the order in which your posts are displayed in the app.

It’s not quite ready as yet, but it is getting close, with IG officially announcing the change earlier this month. You will soon be able to edit and rearrange your content thumbnails on your IG profile to make them into whatever presentation style you see fit.

That’ll also enable people who have created displays based on the old format to realign their updates accordingly, while it’ll also provide new opportunities to entice profile visitors to check out more of your content.

February 2025 Trend Radar: LOVE, LIP LINERS & PLAYLISTS

This month, brands are stepping up their game with innovative campaigns, thoughtful content strategies, and Valentine-inspired ideas.

So we are here to help you with it, Let's dive into what's buzzing!

1. Hyper-Specific Valentine's Day Gift Guides:

This year, it’s all about niche gift guides tailored to your audience's quirks. Forget generic chocolates — think presents for "The Boyfriend Addicted to marvel and Hot Wheels" or "The Girlfriend Who Just loves bath salts."

Why It Works: Personalized recommendations help brands connect with customers looking for the perfect gift. Got a unique product? Spin it into a creative category!

2. Spotify Cover Trend:

Turning your playlist covers into fun designs is the latest craze. Think eyeshadow palettes as playlist art or mood-themed galleries. Brands are jumping on board by creating curated playlists with creative covers that align with their products or vibe.

Why It Works: Music creates an auditory experience that pairs beautifully with a brand's visual storytelling, making engagement more memorable.

3. Rare Beauty's First Influencer-Led Campaign:

Selena Gomez is passing the torch! Rare Beauty recently launched a liquid contour line, featuring creators instead of Selena herself. They shared shade-range tips and product tutorials, giving the campaign a relatable touch.

Why It Works: Consumers trust relatable creators who reflect their personal style — a win-win for both parties.

4. Rhode’s Peptide Lip Shape Campaign:

Featuring shades inspired by movement (like "Balance"), Rhode’s latest campaign saw Tate McRae adding an authentic dancer's touch to the launch visuals.

Why It Works: When models embody a product's concept, it elevates the entire campaign with authenticity.

5. Employee-Generated Content (EGC):

Forget influencer-heavy feeds; employee 'fit checks,' day-in-the-life videos, and behind-the-scenes peeks are making brand content more authentic.

Why It Works: Showing the people behind the brand creates trust and humanizes your content. Plus, it's a fun way to engage the team!

6. Functional PR:

Wasteful packaging is out; practical PR kits are in. From Glossier's chic locks to Poppi's sweat sets, brands are embracing thoughtful PR packages.

Why It Works: Consumers love practical, sustainable items they can actually use — it shows your brand gets it.
