Kaari partners with Canyon-SRAM
Kaari Prehab announces a major collaboration with CANYON//SRAM Racing, a leading women’s cycling team currently racing the World Tour.
Kaari is providing customized programming to support these elite athletes with their mobility and recovery, during the racing season as well as during the off season.??
CANYON//SRAM Racing is the home of fifteen ambitious riders from eleven countries. The team recently won the team classification in Tour de France Femmes, and rider Kasia Niewiadoma took third place in the general classification.?
Jenni Tarma, founder and CEO of Kaari, says: “We are proud to help CANYON//SRAM riders to train and perform their best. A partnership with one of the world’s leading female cycling teams is an important validation for Kaari and our programming methods. Our extensive digital movement library allows us to coach each rider in a flexible and fluid manner, regardless of their geographical location and rapidly evolving racing schedule. Thanks to our adaptable program design and seamless delivery tools, we’re able to be with them throughout training and racing, all the way to the podium.”
Eva Aldag, the team’s Logistics Manager, says: “A professional cyclist's training is structured, intentional and planned to a T. With the goal to perform at their best, their recovery should be all of those things, too. Nervous system recovery is especially crucial for facilitating the training-induced adaptations. The parasympathetic activation needed to support recovery is essential.”
“Since the team is on the road at different races, or at home split over multiple countries all year round, it is difficult to support them in an in-person setting. This is where Kaari enters the game. Accessible from anywhere, offering tailor-made cycling-specific programs for recovery and mobility, Kaari’s programming promotes efficient muscular function. It increases body awareness for enhanced motor control and improved pain outcomes.”?
“It is important that the strengthening exercises do not add too much to the overall workload, but still pose a new challenge to the riders.”?
“The fluid and adaptable nature of Kaari’s services means we can fine-tune the program to suit the needs of the riders and take into account the typical daily challenges of a pro cyclist’s life as we go.
?“I’m confident that we will see good progress with regards to injury prevention, pain management and overall performance during the 2023 season.”
Kaari Coach Sharon Iacono, who is in charge of program design, explains: “Our primary focus is recovery. However, cross-training is also a key part of building resilience on and off the bike. We have included strength training and mobility in all of the team’s support programs. The main points are core strength, cross-body connection and posterior chain function.?
“As a cyclist myself, I am familiar with the strains being in the saddle can put on the body, so my goal is to provide a constantly evolving program to support the riders’ needs in every way.”?
Rider Llori Sharpe from the CANYON//SRAM Generation team says: “The exercises have been extremely helpful for relieving tension, and have truly been an added means of relaxation for me. Truth to be told, I'd been putting off incorporating movement patterns such as these, and I'm glad that the team's partnership with Kaari Prehab came about to provide that structured program to complement my existing training regimen.”?
Ricarda Bauernfeind, also riding on the CANYON// SRAM Generation team, says: “I like the workouts, and I also like the idea of this whole program. I have been integrating it more into my routine, and after training on the bike it‘s such a great feeling to move my body in another way or do some recovery moves.”
