KA Leisure to begin first phase of Wellbeing Boost subscription in 3 weeks! Clear heads a must, as is the vision to think big??????????????

It's hard to believe in just over 3 weeks, invitations to become a Founder Subscriber for our inaugural Wellbeing Boost subscription will roll out.

What will coincide with the forthcoming 25th anniversary of KA Leisure, our immediate strategy is to engage with our most loyal members, rewarding them with a 25% discount for the lifetime of their subscription. We will then move on to the rest of our database, before opening up to everyone else who walks through our doors.

As a Founder Subscriber, to be part of something so significant within the local community will be a momentous occasion and whilst there will be teething issues, learning and adapting as we go, providing we maintain transparent dialogue, our subscribers will be equally sympathetic and supportive to the cause.

Across the UK, current levels of good mental health are disturbingly low. The numbers speak for themselves. Almost two thirds of people have experienced a mental health problem, that rises for women (7 out of 10), younger people (18-34) and for those who live at home alone.

The barometer of success of any nation is the health and wellbeing of its people. We have a long way to go before we can say that we are a thriving nation and although we have made great strides in the health of our bodies, we now need to achieve the same for the good health of our minds.

Internally, collaboration with colleagues across the business will be key to our success. With many passionate stakeholders, it is vital we are all on the same bus together, a collective team spirit, supporting one another and to ensure we all share the same vision, one of changing lives for the better.

To think big is also really important. Long term, this isn't about KA Leisure, we must think beyond the safety net of our existing database and realise influencing communities within North Ayrshire (& beyond) to pursue a better quality of life, is something far, far greater.

As the first public leisure operator in Scotland to roll out a subscription based wellbeing platform, brings enormous pride and responsibility. The utopia however, will be other operators following a similar path, learning from the actions we may have done differently and to make their own small yet vital contribution towards fixing a broken system, reducing the burden on NHS and GP professionals, utilising existing leisure facilities as wellbeing hubs and for existing qualified staff to deliver.

I for one, cannot think of anything better.
