Justine Bateman as Sarah Connor
A colleague sent me a clip from this talk moderated by Brian Greene where Justine Bateman describes Generative AI a "blender" and warns of the multiple impacts on society and specifically the impact on the production of film and television.
Like Sarah Connor in the Terminator, she is looking into the future and trying to warn us about Skynet aka Generative AI and the "tech bros" race forward.
Some quotes that struck me:
"One of the worst ideas our society has ever had...I'm Team Human"
"I've been using this program already. And, it's my f**king brain..."
"They are not using it to make better films..."
It's 40 minutes video, stop to start, but definitely the first 15 to 20 give you a good sense of the conversation. And if you have time, the rest of it is great too. The other guest is creative technologist, Heidi Boisvert. She also has great input and concern for the ethics and the implementation of AI in several areas. She is moving forward teaching and designing curriculum to students.

If you have time to watch it, pls post your comments. I'm curious to see what you think about LLMs/AI and the impact on so many industries. I wish Marshall McLuhan and Davie Bowie were still alive to talk about the impacts.
