Why did you choose a degree specializing in construction engineering technology?

This degree provides exposure to engineering-oriented classes like concrete, steel, and earthen structures. These classes provide a well-rounded foundation in preparation for a career in commercial construction. Understanding the engineering aspects of construction has been valuable for specializing in manufacturing construction.

What makes construction in manufacturing unique?

Manufacturing, food processing, and build-to-suit projects are interesting because you immerse yourself in the client’s process due to the specialty nature of the manufacturing facility. I enjoy the challenge because there is absolutely nothing cookie-cutter about these projects. You also get to see products roll out from these facilities and leave for the marketplace which helps you understand how they were produced.

In construction, what is the advantage of LEED AP accreditation?

The LEED AP demonstrates that you have taken the time and made the effort to understand how to implement sustainable construction methods. While not all projects require these methods, we can add value to projects if and when they make sense. Our clients value our knowledge of and ability to deliver sustainable solutions.

How do you spend your free time?

Living in Sanger, TX, I enjoy small-town life with my wife and three kids. I also belong to a cooking team called Pancho & Lefty Steaks. We participate in steak cook-off competitions in Colorado, Nebraska, and across the Southwest. A highlight was becoming the 2016 Steak Cook-Off Association World Champions which took place at Billy Bob’s in Ft Worth.
