JUST WHO IS JESUS?
By Ken Simmons
Very few people have understood just who Jesus truly is, and His role in the creation.
To some, he was a good man, while others say he was a great prophet. But to most people, we know Him as the Savior, the One who forgave us for our sins.
However, in this effort, we are going to spell out a great deal more as to whom Jesus was and is, and His role in your life and the lives of every human being that has ever lived.
Jesus Himself said that He was sent here to save mankind from their sins. For the believer, that’s about as far as their understanding goes as to who He is and why He came to live with us during our brief time on earth.
And, during that time, He went about healing the sick, casting out demons, and He even raised Lazarus from the dead. He also chose twelve men to follow Him, and we know what happened to the one called Judas.
According to the Bible, He declared that He had been sent by the Father to save sinners. But if that’s the extent of your understanding then you’ve only scratched the surface.
The Bible tells us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (see John 1: v. 1). “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (see John 1: v. 14).
And, “All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made” (see John 1:3). About now, that fact alone should justify a great big Wow!!
This explains Jesus’ role in creation, although most people, including Christians, are totally unaware of this clear, indisputable fact.
Let’s see if we can make His role in all this even clearer. If Jesus was “The Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” we now begin to understand that when God spoke, we know who did the speaking. If “all things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made,” the picture begins to become a great deal clearer.
We know that Jesus was and is, part of the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and we have now learned His role in creation. He spoke. Yes, it was Jesus who spoke.
Let’s go back to the Book of Genesis when everything was created. It was this writer’s opinion that when He spoke, it was Jesus who created everything we see around us.

In my article written a few years back, entitled “Everything From Nothing,” before everything came into being – there was nothing. He who always was, the Uncreated One -- spoke. And in an infinitesimal instant, He created both space and time. It is hard for us to comprehend something of that magnitude. Before that time, there was no time, and before that instant in the newly-created time, there was no space. In that instant “nothing” became “everything.”
At that moment God created all of the energy, which in turn created all of the matter -- in the universe! Maybe Einstein got this one right – E=mc2.
And now, we begin to learn who it truly was that spoke all these things into existence.
POST SCRIPT: It was Jesus who said, "And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name they will cast out demons, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents, and when they drink deadly poison it will not hurt them, and shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." (See Mark 16:15 - 18, NKJV)
Because of those prophetic words, some time around 2006 my mother had died and the attending physician said she'd been dead for the greater part of 90 minutes. I then made everyone leave the I.C.U., I then pulled the curtains around where my mother was lying, and I began to pray in the Spirit over what I was told had been her dead body. After about ten minutes, when there was no change in her, my wife and I left and drove home. When we arrived the phone was ringing, and it was my younger brother, and he was screaming,
"Ken, you're not gonna believe this, but Mom's alive, she's well, and she's going home tomorrow." Mom did go home the next day, and she lived several years after that before peacefully going home to be with the Lord. This is to indicate that the prophecies of Mark Chapter 16 are true.
