Just Wait For Three More Days
Just Wait For Three More Days
It was a glorious spring day, and I carried with me a sense of peace as I was early for work on this beautiful Monday morning. I paused for a moment in the lobby, now crowded with people rushing to their jobs.
Sitting in his usual place inside a small archway was the old shoe shine man. He was smiling and greeting everyone as they passed; his wrinkled old face alive with some inner joy. I looked down at my boots and figured a little extra shine couldn’t hurt and I had extra time. As I paid him, I said, "You always look and seem so very happy." "And why not?" he replied.”Everything is good today, but not as good as tomorrow."
"You've been shining shoes here for many years now, haven't you, and always with a smile on your face and a kind word for everyone that passes. You wear your troubles well."
"You can't reach my age and not have troubles," he replied. "It's like Jesus and Good Friday...." he paused for a moment.
"Yes?" I prompted.
"When Jesus was crucified on Good Friday, well that was the worst day for the whole world. So when I get troubles I remember that, and then I think of what happened only three days later - Easter and our Lord rose from the dead. So when things go wrong, I've learned to wait three days and somehow everything gets much better."
He smiled and said, “God bless you and Never Give Up”. His words still follow me whenever I think I have troubles... and I remember to just give God a chance to help and just wait for three more days. After all God created the entire world in seven and changed the world in three........just think what he will do for you.
